Death Rites:

  • When a person passes, the soul is collected by either that country’s Deity of Death or their Guardians. If a person lives out of their home country, the family of that person will be informed by the Death Deity or their Guardian, and the body given to them for burial or cremation.

  • If a person doesn’t have loved ones to take care of the body. The Death Deity or Guardian will break down the body into organic material to be used as fertilizer for the wilderness.

  • The souls of the deceased are taken to their respective Afterlife Realm where they are reunited with family and friends. If a person is of mixed heritages or married someone outside their country, they can choose which Realm they want to stay in. Most of these types usually stick with what they strongly feel.

  • There are different styles of burials and cremation and beliefs that surround a funeral-like send off. Some examples:

  • The Sea Elves where they cleanse the body, dress it in white, and set the body in a special coral bed where the body will become one with the sea.

  • The Forest Elves cleanse the body, then bury them in a special area near the LifeBlood Tree. They do this as they believe they’ll become one with nature and help give energy to the LifeBlood Tree.

  • The Snow Elves since they live in a harsh snow covered environment, they will cleanse the body like everyone else, then cremate it in a special pyre near where Kings and Queens lay as they believe the Kings and Queens of Old will greet them as they head towards Aneluma or Aneluma’s Great Hall.

  • The Humans bury or cremate the bodies after holding a special ceremony. This ceremony varies from place to place.

  • The Beastfolk bury their bodies or eat the dead during trying times. Some beast species will adorn the bodies with special silks and jewelry before mummifying the body. This is mostly exclusive to desert countries.

  • Avians will place the bodies in special materials and burn the bodies at the highest mountain point. They do this as they feel they become closer to their Mother Goddess.
