Lake Arcadia is a thriller, horror, paranormal tale. The story is a macabre series of shorts that intertwines with one another to spin a delightful tale that'll leave you at the edge of your seat.
The story is about a small town on the southern edge of Lake Arcadia. The town is a quiet and peaceful place for people to settle down and raise their children. Small businesses flourish in the summer months as the local campgrounds draw in tourists and anglers across the state. The lake has always been one of the best natural destinations for miles around, but something changed.
After a flood that swept through the previous year, the lake has been the same. The fish are nowhere to be found and strange noises can be heard on calm, quiet nights. No one noticed these occurrences until bodies start showing up. The police rule it as accidental drownings, but not everyone was convinced with these statements. As the rumors grow, a young man eyewitness goes viral and causes drives of people to the lake in search of the monster below the surface.
This was one tale where it had a perfect mix of cryptid lore and unique storytelling of the lives of the inhabitants that live in Lake Arcadia. Each chapter takes a deep look into each character as well as the narrating of trials and tribulations. The story also has a wonderful mix of atmosphere, character development, plot, and anticipation.
This was one of the rare stories where I couldn't put this book down and it reminded me of a Stephen King book. Okay, I'll admit I read Stephen King often, and this book reminded me of one of his works. This means for me this will be one book that'll be read often.
