Anastasia wanted to know more about the mysterious woman that was in her home, but conflicting thoughts clouded her mind.
"I'm going to go outside to get some air." She announced, not that it mattered. Anastasia knew the Odnsian Fae wasn't going anywhere, but she wanted to say something out of respect before leaving. It was for naught, though as her statement, and movements were met with silence.
Anastasia let out a sigh while heading out and was met by the winter's bitter cold night air. It was a a welcoming relief with everything considered. "That Selxipha person. What is her story? What reason would she want to desert the Imperial Army? Was she truly part of the Imperial Army? Oh, this is all making my head hurt." She groaned in frustration as questions danced across her mind, but knowing full well she was not going to get any answers.
As Anastasia knew well enough Army Men and Women never spilled secrets, even to the Sages they didn't say anything. She leaned against the wooden door of her cabin home as she overheard singing.
"Oh, Queen of thy Night
Deadly shadows embrace
How thou taunts me with this pain
Oh, Queen of thy Night
How I wish thou would leave a wretch like me alone
To stew in thy misery and my cursed life."
"Hm?" Anastasia raised an eyebrow at the strange song she had overheard. It was unfamiliar to her, yet it tugged at her heartstrings. "What hell did this woman go through?" She asked out loud as the sounds of snow crunching caused her to turn away from the song and raise her lantern. In the distance, she saw Imperial Army men and women, searching the area for something.
"Come on, we have to find that deserter or else our heads will be on Sage of Shadows, Heiki chopping block come the morn." One of the men shouted causing her to gasp before clicking her heels and heading back inside.
"We have to get out of here." Anastasia announced causing Selxipha to stiffen at the panic and distress of the other woman's voice. She could tell straight away that the Imperial Army was around.
"Check this cabin. We need to bring that traitorous Odnsian Fae to Heiki." A muffled voice stated as their steps grew closer.
Without missing a beat, Anastasia helped Selxipha out of the bed, and headed for the backdoor as the main door crashed open.
The first thing the small army men saw was the backdoor swinging back and forth. "It's apparent someone was harboring the fugitive. After them!" The leader shouted as the two women fled into the dark, dense forest.
