The Legend of Bolyra's Lore - Tovldir and Dinir Feud

Tovldir, the God of Night and Dreams and Dinir, the God of Light. These two deities were once enemies. Dinir was jealous of the God of Night and Dream and his wife, Oelia, the Goddess of the Sun and Day. For he felt the two held too much power over the light while he had none. Most in the mortal realm regarded him merely as the one who gave them magic to light darken areas and heal wounds.

This agitated Dinir to no end as he felt like a lesser god while others spoke down to him or ignored him whenever he spoke. The Light God confronted Tovldir about this.

Infuriated by yet another cold shoulder and somewhat dismissive attitude (or so he thought), he challenged Tovldir to a duel to resolve the hurt. Demanding that they fight at 5 pm to prove his worth that he could be known more than a flashlight or healer.

"There has to be another way than this, Dinir. Can't we talk this out?" Tovldir explained as the two sat in his realm discussing the matter. "No, there isn't, Tovldir. We need to duke this out so I can get some spotlight here." Dinir returned with a glare as the Night God let out a sigh. "Fine. We'll do things your way this time. I'll see you at 5 between the Northern and Southern borders." With that, he waved the Light God out of his realm and let out another sigh while leaning back in his chair.

5 came as the God of Night and Dreams stood where they were supposed to meet. Dread was on his face as he felt this was unnecessary and could have been talked out, but alas he kept on forgetting how stubborn his brother was. "Brother?" He snorted with annoyance when he saw the Light God armed with a glowing sword that was crackling with lightning. "Of course you paid a visit to Lady Anise. I swear I need to talk to the others more often about your anger and stubbornness." Shaking his head he summoned his Moon Staff and got into a fighting stance. "I do not understand what you're problem is, but come at thee." He hissed before the two charged at one another.

Brilliant lights flashed and danced across the sky with each blow. The newfound glow and fighting lasted until 2 am. Growling as Tovldir slid across the sky and drenched in sweat; he raised his staff and let out a spell to stop his brother's attack. "Enough of this, Dinir! We need to talk this out. Also, look at what we're doing!" He shouted causing the younger brother to get out of his fighting trance to see what was going on.

"Woah. This light is gorgeous. Did we cause this?" He asked, gobsmacked at the sight. "Yes. This was what I wanted to talk to you about, Dinir. I understand your frustration, but that pigheaded stubbornness is going to get you killed one day, brother." Tovldir replied with a sigh as he summoned another staff.

The staff was the same length as his Moon Staff but was different. Colors faded from neon green to red to purple and had a sun and moon emblem as its symbol. He handed this staff to his brother with a smile. "From 5 at night to 2 in the morning, through the months of March and September, you can summon this light for the people to see." The God of Night said while pointing to the travelers who had stopped to witness the night's light. Along with the night owls, grave shift workers, and those with insomnia.

Dinir with eyes beginning to water couldn't believe his ears. "Thank you. And I'm sorry, I should have listened." Raising a hand. "There's no need to apologize, but please be a little kinder to other deities, please. For I wanted to rip your head off for making Oelia cry, you childish bastard." Anger flashed across the man's face as the God of Light chuckled out of embarrassment. "Is there anything I can do to fix that?" He asked as a smirk came to the God of Night's face. "Yes. When she's performing her duties you can assist her sister and mother on keeping an eye on their realms and---." Dinir's smile faded as regret set in.

After that fateful day, the two stopped fighting, and the birth of the Auroras came along with a newly added title to Dinir's rank.
