The Monarchy System in The Legend of Bolyra

Today’s post is about the Monarchy System is in Bolyra. This system varies from Nation to Nation and the major races that have this system in place.

The system goes something like this:

Normal, human - A King or Queen presiding over their nation, taxing fairly, and working with the people.

Corrupt/Tyrannical/Oligarchy, human and certain humanoid creatures - A King or Queen ruling over their nation in a ruthless and cruel manner.

Diarchy/Egalitarian, Forest Elves, Shadow Elves, and Snow Elves - The King and Queen jointly rule over their kingdoms (except for King Ornthalas as he does not have a spouse), they do not tax their people, and they work alongside them to either help them or make money of their own.

Tribes, Tigris and Crystal Golems - These races do not follow a monarchy system. They follow their own rules and only help other races unless need be.

Bloom, Jellyfish Oceanids - This mermaid race lives in the nearby river of the Glade and in a lake. They along with the Dragonfly Water Nymphs, help the Goddess of Water, Auna on keeping the waters pure.

The Forest Elves live in a forest they and other races refer to as the Glade. The forest is on the outskirts of Stoneguard, a human settlement, and one of the rare towns that accept all non-human races. King Ornthalas is their current ruler and his reach extends to the South with Nala Tirion Sea Elves. The Forest Elves used to live in Helina and were called the Vernmer. The Vernmer, before seeing the error of their ways, was a ruthless dictatorship that worshipped money and power over people. When Jandar, a Shapeshifter who was a slave to them sparked a rebellion and attempted to eradicate the elves of Helina. This caused them to transform themselves into the Forest Elves after fleeing and realize how wrong they were for what they have done. Hence, why they have the Diarchy/Egalitarian system. They want to atone for their misdeeds by giving back to their people and others.

Muria is the Capitol of the East of Bolyra and the human population is ruled by a man named Tobias and his son, Ramos. Tobias used to co-rule with his twin brother, Saerus, who ruled over the West and South portions of the human settlements, but he became corrupted by a daemon who was a worshipper of Jandar. This daemon promised him power and control as he had never seen; this is how the country became divided and Tobias had to tell his people to cut all business ties with that portion of the country. On top of the corruption, King Tobias and his son ended up losing their wife and mother to Saerus’ hands, as he wanted his brother to suffer.

Brinestall is the Capitol of Fayacre and is the primary hub in the West. The town is overseen by Chancellor Emblin, a ruthless, Naga, woman. This place is known for its dragons, their conservation efforts surrounding them, the sex trade/slavery, and the top crime rate. Brinestall, alongside Taedmorden, is close to The Grim Desert and has a strong working relationship with the Desert Dwellers’ Slavers. The people who live here are in poverty or wealthy because of living off the backs of their sex slaves. The sex slaves can range from being treasured and just as wealthy as they’re owners to broke and treated horribly; this depends on the owner and how much kindness is in their hearts.

The 'Lost Kingdoms', the Snow Elves and Shadow Elves Kingdoms:

The Taiga Mountains, a dangerous place for travelers, mountaineers, expeditionists, and curious wanderers, who dare to explore these uncharted lands.

This is the home of the Snow Elves. They, just like the Forest Elves, were once known as a different race of elves that lived in Helina. These elves called themselves the Moon Elves and just like the Vernmer, they too were ruthless and cold towards other races. The Moon Elves considered other races to below them. These elves also bred and raised dragons called Moon Dragons. The people of Helina feared and revered these dragons. There were rumors about Almos, the God of Sun and Moon, who they worshipped gave them these dragons. When Jandar did his rebellion, they fled with two dragons.

They transformed themselves to Snow Elves and the last two dragons into Frost Dragons to cope with their unfamiliar environment. The elves, using their moon powers, placed a spell on the mountains to manipulate the weather, and created harsh blizzards to conceal their location from Jandar and his growing army. As time marched on, just like the Forest Elves, the spell they used on themselves became permanent; the same with the dragons. They raised and bred the dragons as companions, transportation, and aerial sentries to keep an eye out for their enemies.

Unlike their original counterparts, the Moon Elves. The Snow Elves, where close to the Shadow Elves, who were the Drow before their transformation, and the Forest Elves. They also had a close relationship with the humans that weren’t far from the mountains’ base.

The Shadow Elves once known as the Drow. Just like the Forest and Snow Elves, they transformed themselves into the Shadow Elves. As the Moon Elves/Snow Elves, they too raised dragons, called the Ancient Dragons. These dragons hailed from a country near to Helina. These beasts were hunted, captured, and used as tools of dominance in their original provinces. While they, the Drow, didn’t own slaves they were obsessed with wealth, power, and land. Because of this greed caused strife between the other elven races and races.

When Jandar came to power, they fled as soon as they heard what happened to the other elf communities. This is how the Drow became Shadow Elves and the Ancient Dragons became the Nebula Dragons. These elves fled to Desert Mining town that originally was an Orc Village, who long abandoned it. From what they found the name was Taedmorden, the Orcs worshipped the Original 6 Deities, and they continued to do so. But unlike the Drow and other Helina elves, they did not give in to the Gods and Goddesses whims like they once had. Causing them to abandon the elves and for the elves to turn to the 12 Gods and Goddesses of Bolyra for guidance.

The Snow Elves and Shadow Elves are considered extinct in the current timeline because of Jandar discovering their new homes along with their new identies. But this is not true as these elves have either gone underground into hiding or some are traveling.

Known Snow Elves:

Queen Merialeth Lithrina, mother of Princess Aerilaya, wife to King Biryor and co-ruler. She is heading to Taedmorden to see if the Original 6 can help her and the other deities on stopping Jandar; to prevent her daughter from getting involved.

King Biryor Lithrina, father of Princess Aerilaya, husband to Queen Merialeth and co-ruler. He’s in the Taiga Mountains with the other Snow Elves and the Frost Dragons.

Princess Aerilaya Lithrina, daughter of King Biryor and Queen Merialeth. She’s traveling Bolyra with her friends, Prince Alosrin, Kuornos, and Kailu - a mixed elf race of mysterious origins to fix their country.

Known Shadow Elves:

King Tholns and Queen Alurara, parents of Prince Alosrin. They’re underground and preparing for the inevitable possibility that there may be another war on the horizon.

Prince Alosrin Kuornos, son of King Tholns and Queen Alurara. He’s traveling with Aerilaya and Kailu to fix their country.
